Fish Measurement Boards

IMGP0067

I have used fish measuring boards for decades as a professional fisheries biologist. I have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly as we have had boards made by several different outfits. So, I designed these boards using that experience. Whether you are an angler, researcher, or fish biologist, these boards will serve you well for years.

These boards are made from solid ash. The base boards are 3/4″ thick on the larger models to accommodate a rugged 3″ hinge with removable pin. The 36″ models hinge at 18″ so they fit in a backpack for remote work or carrying on the back of a snowmobile. The 48″ model hinges at 24″. These are perfect for fish like pike, muskies, and striped bass. We have also made many smaller one-piece fish boards. I’ve switched to all vinyl rulers. The aluminum rulers were hard to get in 48 inches and became very pricey when I could find them. I’m now using 1 inch wide vinyl rulers from Oregon Rule Co. The vinyl ruler is rabbeted into the boards then coated with tough West Systems marine epoxy for a smooth durable finish. We use a ruler that has both English/Metric measurements. The sides and back are fastened with stainless steel wood screws. The boards are coated with spar urethane for a long-lasting finish.
